“Complementarity—the 7th AAC Art China Overseas Invitation Exhibition” will open at Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry on the afternoon of November 26, 2013. In the wake of successful debut at Malaysia, AAC Art China Overseas Invitation Exhibition series will first spark upsurge of interest in water ink painting in Southeast Asia, as the second leg of the exhibition is hosted by Artron Group, undertaken by Artron website and supported by Nanyang Art Museum. More ink painting masters’ works will be at display in the Lion City, as Singapore 2013 exhibition artist lineup collects contemporary water ink artists such as Cui Zhenkuan, Guo Shifu, Lu Chen, Li Wenliang, Li Xuegong, Ma Haifang, Peng Xiancheng, Qi Hong, Shi Baihui, Wu Yiping, Xiao Han, Yang Jikui and Zhou Sicong, set to showcase to Singaporean audience the vibrant landscape of Chinese ink painting creation since the beginning of reform and opening-up era.
AAC Art China Overseas Invitation Exhibition series are initiated by Artron Net, the largest portal website of Chinese artwork in the world, which aim at strengthening and promoting cultural and artistic exchanges between Chinese and other countries, spreading the Chinese traditional culture, enhancing friendship between the peoples and conducting an exchange platform showing the Chinese traditional culture and art to the world.
AAC Art China Overseas Invitation Exhibition series kick starts from Southeast Asia, as it is one of the regions with high concentration of ethnic Chinese and overseas Chinese population, as well as shared culture and art origins. Due to special geographic and historical reasons, Southeast Asian culture and art also exhibit pronounced local features and implicit Western influence. In recent years, local contemporary art in Southeast Asia countries has experienced healthy and steady development, and Chinese contemporary art circle which has returned to normalized state after a period of explosive growth can learn and benefit from Southeast Asian counterpart’s experience. On the one hand, “Complementarity” can be used to interpret the inheritance and interaction of different sources, expressions and narratives of Chinese contemporary art scene, and on the other hand, it represents the increasingly independent, free and enlightened prospect of modern art.
